War

War. A violent bloodbath between nations, a gamble of the lives of millions of friends. War, something i never thought could happen to my country. But it has. All i know, is that im safe, far from the battlefield, out of the way of our brave soldiers.

A cloudy day. Normally, the days are filled with white puffy clouds damping the shiny sun. But today is different. Clouds were stained gray, the air felt heavy, and the sun, barely visible. It was your typical warning of imminent downpour. But something felt off.

Despite this suspicious weather, i was offered to play basketball with my cousin. We arrived at the park we usually play in. It wasn't far from home. We could always run back home if it rained. With that in mind, we were able to play basketball without worries. But we missed most of our shots. This wasn't normal. We thought it was the heavy air causing this phenomenon.

" Hey, i think this is is no fun if we keep missing like this" my cousin said, in a very depressed tone.

" Yeah, i guess your right" I replied immediately. " 'Ey, how 'bout you come over my house? Hang out and stuff".

" Aight! Lets go! I've had enough of this failure" replying in delight. He dug for his phone from his pocket. After what seemed like forever, he grabs his phone and dials a number.

" Hello?" a voice from the phone asked.

" Dad, im going to go over to my cousins house 'kay?" my cousin asked him with a demanding tone in his voice.

"Okay, have fun, come back home before dark" his dad replied.

We walked a few blocks to reach my house. When we reached there we were fresh out of breath. Ridiculous. A few blocks, and we were extremely exhausted. Strange.

Me and my cousin were sharing the same thoughts. " It's got to be the air" we said at the same time. " Yeah, the air" we blamed.

" Or maybe we just got wimpier?" my cousin joked gasping for breath.

"Right..." i whispered being sarcastic.

We sat down on couch thinking to ourselves. Suddenly, the my cousins phone rings breaking the silence.

" Guys! Stay at home! I just found out there

Haggard's true self

Ted Haggard is a Evangelical pastor who admits in his speech that he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a 20-year-old male volunteer. In his speech, he is trying to convince his audience that his actions were beyond his control by using rhetorical techniques. Haggard is basically just telling and finalizing the issue with an honest answer with his speech.

Haggard uses some pathos in his speech, he states, " the incident was ' an indicator of the compulsive behaviour' that ruled him at the time"(Haggard, 1) Clearly, Haggard is attempting to gain pity from his audience by convincing them that he had absolutely no control over himself during the incident and it was an act that he did not intend. He also puts more Pathos into effect, Haggard states," I think I'm still deeply wounded and scarred and somewhat confused,"(Haggard, 1). Again, Haggard is trying to gain pity from his audience, he is telling the audience that he believes that his actions were absolutely wrong by stating that he was negatively affected by his actions.

Yes, i believe Haggard is being absolutely credible in his speech, he is admitting to something no man can easily do- tell the world he did in fact have sexual relations with a man. He specifically states that he really did have sex with a man, and also builds on his credibility by stating that he decided to undergo therapy, believing that he has done something very wrong, and is willing to fix it.
